about me

Camille Thual

Hello, my name is Camille Thual.  I am a competitive international event rider and both an equestrian and mental coach. I have a passion for learning and for the respect of horses’ well-being. I have been described as patient, determined, generous, and ambitious. I love to challenge myself and constantly seek to evolve, whether I’m riding or coaching. My core values revolve around respect, commitment and sharing. My greatest pleasure lies in passing on my knowledge to help my students to become more autonomous and develop their potential.

The UMANITY project embodies a vision of horsemanship that I’ve held for a long time. This vision is based on a comprehensive and caring approach to riding, encompassing technical, physical and mental work. This approach aims to improve the competitive performance of riders and their horses, while enhancing their respective well-being.

UMANITY, a fusion of the words “UMA” (horse in Japanese) and “HUMAN”, symbolizes the unique partnership between rider and horse.  This exceptional bond cannot be created in a positive way without a deep sense of humanity.

I am convinced that to achieve optimal performance, it is essential that the horse-rider partnership be developed with compassion. This enables the partnership to progress together and develop the capabilities and skills needed to compete with confidence. This approach involves working on equestrian technique, both physically and mentally. This is precisely what I offer through my equestrian and mental coaching sessions.

about me

My journey

I began riding at the age of 6 and was lucky enough to be given my first pony soon after. At the age of 13, I started competing in local eventing competitions. I love all three phases of the sport, but I immediately fell in love with the sense of freedom and the adrenaline of riding cross-country. I made my international competitive debut in 2016 and today I ride several horses ranging from the 1* to 4* level. My mother is English and my father is French, but I proudly compete for Belgium, my country of birth and where I have lived all of my life.

From an early age, I have aspired to turn my passion into my profession. In October 2020, I was accepted into the renown Cadre Noir equestrian academy in Saumur where I gained the BPJEPS Equestrian Sport Training diploma, and a qualification as an equestrian coach in the three equestrian disciplines of dressage, show jumping, and cross-country riding.

As mental coaching has helped me enormously along the way, and seeing the difficulties many riders experience in managing stress in particular, I chose to further develop my coaching skills by following the NeurocompPro training offered by Develop Leaders. chose to further develop my coaching skills by following the NeurocompPro training offered by Develop Leaders.   This experience has allowed me to not only continue my own personal growth, but it has also equipped me with the skills and qualifications to now support other riders in developing a strong mental ability and a growth mindset.

Today, I strive to combine the technical and mental side of the sport to offer a greater perspective and, consequently, more lasting results.
